    Justice Paul W. Green was elected to the Supreme Court of Texas in 2004. Before joining the Court, he served for ten years as a Justice on the Fourth Court of Appeals in San Antonio. A native of San Antonio, Justice Green received his business degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1974 and his law degree from St. Mary’s University School of Law in 1977. After law school, Justice Green, a third-generation lawyer, joined his father in a mid-sized litigation practice and remained there for seventeen years until he was elected to the Court of Appeals in 1994.

    Wallace Jefferson was appointed chief justice September 14, 2004, by Gov. Rick Perry. He succeeded former Chief Justice Thomas R. Phillips as the 26th chief justice in Texas. Jefferson joined the Court from private practice in San Antonio. As a partner in the appellate-specialty firm Crofts, Callaway & Jefferson, he successfully argued two cases before the United States Supreme Court. He is a graduate of the James Madison College at Michigan State University and the University of Texas School of Law.

    Justice Johnson was appointed to the Court on March 15, 2005, by Gov. Rick Perry. He was serving as chief justice of the Seventh Court of Appeals in Amarillo at the time of his appointment. He was elected to the Seventh Court of Appeals in 1998 and was elected chief justice in 2002. He practiced law from 1975 until 1998 with the Lubbock law firm of Crenshaw, Dupree & Milam, L.L.P.

    Todd A. Hunter is serving his fifth term in the Texas House of Representatives. He was first elected to public office in 1988 and retired from public service in 1997 so that he could help raise his three young children with his wife Alexis. In 2008, Todd was elected as a Republican representing District 32 composed of Aransas, Calhoun, San Patricio and part of Nueces County. He is currently the senior partner of Hunter and Handel, P.C. in Corpus Christi.

    On January 9, 2007, Robert Lee Nichols was sworn in to represent the citizens of Texas State Senate District 3, which is comprised of 16 counties ranging from southern Tyler to just north of Houston and stretching east to the Texas-Louisiana border.     Jerry Patterson was born in Houston, Texas on November 15, 1946. He graduated from Texas A&M, Class of 1969 and received his commission in the United States Marine Corps. Volunteering for duty in Vietnam in 1972, Patterson was later designated as a Naval Flight Officer and served in Marine fighter squadrons until his retirement from the Marine Corps Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1993. Since his election as Texas Land Commissioner in 2002, Patterson has modernized and revitalized the Texas General Land Office, the oldest agency in Texas. He has diversified and increased the Permanent School Fund, made Texas a renewable energy leader, protected state lands and overseen the greatest expansion of veterans benefits since World War II.
